I have never been particularly good at staying inside one box.

My background spans earth sciences, data analysis, business, e-commerce, education and technology. What connects these fields is not a particular job title or technology, but the way I like to work: understand how something works, identify the real problem, learn what I need, build or test a solution, and then share what I have learned.

I am most comfortable between worlds — technology and people, analysis and action, learning and teaching, thinking and making.

Teaching has become an important part of that process. I enjoy making complex subjects understandable, helping people gain confidence and seeing the moment when something finally clicks. I have taught teenagers and adults, designed IT curricula, developed learning materials, prepared professional upskilling courses and mentored individual learners.

Technology is one of my main tools, but not an end in itself. I use Python, SQL, web technologies, data tools, AI and physical computing to explore ideas, build small practical systems and understand what these technologies can actually do. Many of these experiments eventually become teaching materials, tutorials, documentation or articles.

My earlier work in environmental data analysis taught me to work with complex information, deal with imperfect real-world data and communicate technical findings to non-technical people. Running my own e-commerce business taught me about customers, products, money and the practical consequences of decisions. Education taught me how to structure knowledge and help other people move forward.

Across these different fields, I have found that I value the same things: useful work, personal responsibility, practical competence and the freedom to make informed decisions. I respect expertise and people who have earned my trust. I also prefer to understand why a process exists and whether it actually serves its purpose, rather than following it simply because it is established. I prefer simple solutions that work. I would rather understand and test something than blindly accept it. And when something does not work, I am generally more interested in understanding why than in defending the original idea.

Outside work, I enjoy hiking in the woods and mountains, reading SF&F, thrillers and historical fiction, strategic board games, physical training in the gym and self-defence — and a good strong coffee in the morning.

At the moment, I am based in Peru during a sabbatical. I continue teaching, building and writing while learning Spanish and exploring ideas around practical technology, resilience and self-reliance.

I am preparing to return to Czechia in 04/2027 and am interested in opportunities where I can combine education, communication, practical problem-solving and technology — particularly where understanding a complex subject and making it useful to other people are both part of the job.
